What Does a Music Promoter Do?

A music promoter is someone who organizes and presents live music events, from booking talent and securing venues to setting ticket prices and promoting the show. They advertise and promote performances, coordinate with artists and venues to organize and promote events, and are responsible for running the program and finding new talent. A music promoter is also responsible for advertising concerts and other musical events, generating excitement and interest for an event, connecting the artist's work with the best promotional outlet, and working with an agency or promotion venue. They may also take care of some off-stage needs, such as adaptations and anything an artist may include in their broker agreement. Additionally, they can work with touring musicians, promote for specific music venues, or contract their services to individual clients.
